Nickelback, one of the biggest rock bands in the world, known for their powerful and spectacular live performances, have announced their first Australian tour in three years. Jackson Firebird will join Nickelback on the newly announced dates.
Nickelback last toured Australia in 2009, with the extremely successful Dark Horse Tour, where the band performed for nearly 100,000 Australian fans. In total, the Dark Horse Tour saw Nickelback performing for nearly two million fans with more than 120 shows around the world including stops here, as well as New Zealand, Japan, Dubai, the United Kingdom, Germany and North America.
Released in November of last year, the band’s current album Here And Now - the biggest international release in Nickelback’s history and ARIA #1 - is home to hit singles ‘Lullaby’ and ‘When We Stand Together,’ with both tracks reaching #1 on the iTunes rock chart. ‘Trying Not To Love You,’ the third single to be unleashed from the #1 selling album Here And Now, is at radio now.
Nickelback have achieved a prestigious place in music history having sold nearly 50 million worldwide, staking a claim for one of the biggest and most enduringly successful rock acts in history. Since their 2001 breakthrough hit song ‘How You Remind Me’, Nickelback has sent more than 20 singles rocketing onto Australian radio and various Billboard charts, including ‘When We Stand Together’ and ‘Bottoms Up’. In 2009, Billboard Magazine also named Nickelback “Top Group of the Decade”. Their now classic album All The Right Reasons ensured Nickelback an indelible place in rock history, having spent a staggering 112 consecutive weeks in the Top 30 of the Billboard Top 200, certified eight-times platinum in the U.S. and having sold more than eleven million copies worldwide, including sales exceeding five times platinum in Australia.
Jackson Firebird, known for their brutally energetic live sets, have earned their touring stripes alongside You Am I, King Cannons, Snowdroppers, Little Birdy and the Fumes. Rugged, explosive, full-tilt Aussie rock and roll - Jackson Firebird (Dale Hudak and Brendan Harvey) have captured their volatile live power, delivering it in the form of their debut album Cock Rockin’. “Jackson Firebird is all about the live show,” insists Harvey. No frills, nothing fancy: just straight-up, 12 bar lovin’ rock and roll.
