Simon Hudson’s underlying aesthetic borrows from that of Paul Simon - melodic, thought-provoking songs with an underlying bed of pulsating traditional rhythms - along with the moody poeticism of Leonard Cohen. He builds upon his songwriting strengths with a tight rhythm section cemented through frequent performance, augmented by a horn section to broaden and enhance his sound. Simon Hudson has also studied the traditional music of Africa, Brazil and Latin America, and this is evident in his hypnotic groove-based approach.
