Dress code: sequins, top hat, silks, a singlet, satin knickerbockers, a Pocahontas costume, lycra, faux fur, face-paint, a Venetian mask, blue jeans, a poncho, a tuxedo, a tracksuit, thongs, a cocktail dress, gumboots, a sundress, sandals.
Whether you dress up beautifully in character or dress down and relax Woodford Folk Festival is a place where anything goes as long as you come as you are, or as you’d like to be.
If you have made the pilgrimage for the festival experience, winding down whilst residing at the Woodfordia site or been the day tripper, you know the feeling of belonging to the curious many, appreciating soul uplifting art, culture, and music.
Launched on Saturday October 20, the 12/13 programme features all the wonderful artists that will converge over the six days and nights and were described by Festival Director Bill Hauritz as the catalyst that reminds us of our humanity, keep us sane and instruct us to party.
“At Woodfordia, all of us build a makeshift village, suburbs and homes for a week then take it all away,” Festival Director Bill Hauritz said.
“We build a community together larger than most country towns. On the surface it might seem ridiculous; it isn’t.
“Our goal is to provide a platform where together we can celebrate our communities and rediscover that spirit of generosity that lives in us all,” Bill said.
The festival launched its 27th programme, the 19th at the Woodfordia site. Tickets and programmes are available online, visit www.woodfordfolkfestival.com.
