This is an exciting opportunity to improve your Board skills and governance knowledge while participating in a Board Retreat over five days and four nights in Hobart’s beautiful Salamanca. This is the only style of Cert IV governance training in Australia and it covers all of the duties and responsibilities of Directors. It will improve your performance on both private and not for profit boards and ensure that you are not only meeting legal duties but improving Board and organisational performance. You will have the opportunity to specialise in private companies or not for profit Boards depending on your preference.
A month prior to the course you will receive an information kit welcoming you as a Director to a newly formed Board. You will receive a company profile and financials, the governance policies for the organisation and your induction reading material for new Directors.
You will need to quickly establish networks, meeting protocols, review financial reports, make strategic decisions, deal with emergency situations, establish working committees and solve problems. In between Board meetings you will participate in training activities on specific topics and hear from experienced Directors.
The days are very long so we recommend you ‘live in’ even if your home is in Hobart. Over the five days you will attend Board Meetings, presentations on specific topics and participate in mystery activities to keep your energy levels where they will need to be. All meals, activities and accommodation are included in the cost.
The Certificate IV in Governance (BSB40907) is a nationally recognised, competency-based, generic qualification designed for current or aspiring Board Members, senior managers and agencies working with Boards who are committed to high quality governance standards. The Certificate consists of ten units of competency based on the Business Services Training Package (BSB07).
The program is run by Tall Poppies Governance and our facilitators are Kim Backhouse, David Benbow, Josh Geelan, Graham Flower, Rhonda McLaughlin and Ron Ward. In addition there will be guest speakers at evening meals.
