Julian Hobba's adaptation of Herman Melville's 1853 story places Bartleby in a contemporary Australian office. The demands of technology and endless economic growth have made the atmosphere permanently schizophrenic. Brilliantly capable, frustratingly unworkable, he forces the wise old lawyer who employs him to judge between the office - that effective system for managing human behaviour - against the weight of the human soul.

"I think that maybe in every company today there is always at least one person who is going crazy slowly" - Joseph Heller.

Weekdays and Saturdays: 7:30pm. Sundays: 6pm. Box office opens 1.5 hours earlier
