We’re following Sicilian tradition – Sunday lunch for the whole family. Nonna, kids, cousins, whoever is around on the day, with head chef James Wilson working alongside “someone’s nonna”, chef DaLuca from Sicily.
Our head chef James Wilkinson will work side-by-side with “someone’s nonna”, chef DaLuca from Sicily. Together they will create dishes that showcase the contemporary and the traditional.
Bedda is committed to the use of local, ethically farmed produce and uses organic suppliers where possible.
A four-course sharing menu will showcase the old and new interpretation of Southern food.
The menu will be hearty and include dishes such as:
- Pulses and vegetables from “Farmer Robbie” (Seymour)
- Sicilian style spit roast lamb using meat from “Plains Paddock”
- Brioche ice cream sandwich with sheep yoghurt gelato using produce from Gioco Gelato, (Reservoir).
Italian wines from Enoteca Sileno will be matched to the menu, ensuring a truly Italian feast.
There will be fresh food, long tables, waiters in the Sicilian coppola and vest, and a slideshow projecting images of the ‘blend’ of food and place.
To be family inclusive, Bedda will curate an interactive display of Southern Italian food and its arrival in Melbourne in its next door venue, designed to appeal to children under 12. We are also planning a storyteller and marionette show.
Children will be given free a "Sicilian ingredient box" for their Monday night dinner. Extras can be purchased. They will also be able to purchase their very own hand-made coppola or vest from Sicily which have been designed by a Melbourne-based artist.
