Anna Fiszman – Celebrating the Roots of Americana

Following her sold out show last December, Anna Fiszman and husband/collaborator Marc Landesberg, return for an intimate evening of songs from her favorite songwriters.

Anna Fiszman is originally from Melbourne, Australia, where she performed both as a solo artist and as a founding member of a well-known four woman satirical group, appearing in a number of Australia’s leading venues, as well as on major television shows.

Her influences came from Folk, Blues and popular music of the 1960’s. As she matured, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, Billie Holiday and even Piaf, took center stage. She then established her own Jazz quartet with top Australian Jazz and session musicians.

She has now come full circle: the music that moves her deeply is drawn from all the parts of her background. From the raw, gut emotions of the Delta Blues, to the stylistic nuances of Jazz and R&B. It’s all present, when you hear her sing—the melting pot of American music coming together powerfully in a completely original way. She is one singer, who will truly move you.

On teaming up with Anna, Marc reinvented himself as a guitarist. His playing weaves deep rhythmic, percussive and melodic elements together. Providing a solid, moving, harmonic platform for Anna to soar from, is for him, a captivating and challenging experience.
