For the first time, MIFF 37ºSouth Market presents a live script-reading of a local project seeking financing at the market.

Developed with the support of Screen Australia and Film Victoria, and written by Gina Lambropoulos and produced by Lee Matthews (Emo: The Musical, MIFF Premiere Fund 2016), That Time of Year tells the tale of a middle-aged gay-bar owner whose life, and plans for his usual anti-Christmas party, are thrown into disarray when he is forced to care for his estranged pious sister, after she’s hit by a bus full of drag queens, and the eight-year-old niece he’s never known. This is a character-driven heart-warming comedic tale in the vein of About a Boy meets The Birdcage.

Audience feedback will be invited after the performance to assist with the project’s further development. While booking is essential, this is a free event open to industry and general public alike.
