The Retreat seeks to assist writers (or those willing to explore the possibility) with the skills necessary to find and share their voice with the world—share a personal story, keep a private journal, improve your writing skills, or simply increase your level of joy and satisfaction in your life.

Over the weekend we discover that writing can be a transformative tool for self-discovery, meaningful connection to others and an overall sense of wellness. We will use simple mindfulness techniques such as breathing, relaxation, meditation (including walking meditation), focus and insight exercises to enhance one's powers of creativity and expression.

We will learn about the 4 Noble Truths of Mindful Writers and engage in writing exercises to help you find your voice, share your Story, write as healing, keep a journal, edit your work, and explore where to publish your writing.

Whether your goals are writing a memoir, blogging, public speaking, business communications, social media posting, personal essay or journal writing, this weekend is for students with all motivations and levels of experience.

There will be plenty of time to sit and write throughout the 2 days. Please bring a book and pen to write in or a laptop depending on your preference. Retreatants will be able to join with Chenrezig’s activities in the Main Gompa including morning and evening activities.

Meals and Accommodation available separately.

Established 1974, Chenrezig Institute is a centre for Buddhist study, meditation, retreat and practice nestled in the foothills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The Institute is home to a Tibetan Geshe (Lama), a large community of ordained Sangha (monks and nuns), students, residents, volunteers, retreat goers and guests.

Apart from the formal study programmes, Chenrezig Institute is a peaceful, calm and relaxing place to spend a few hours, days or weeks. Stroll along the bush paths, wander in formal garden, espresso in the cafe or a vegetarian meal.

Teachers’ availability subject to change; please check Chenrezig Institute Calendar for updated information. Also below the far carpark is ‘The Wellbeing Centre’ which provides courses focusing on cultivating physical, emotional and mental balance and wellbeing. They include authentic traditional and modern psychological approaches to health and lifestyle. They are suitable for everyone who maybe looking for genuine happiness and well-being in a non-religious framework.
