Sprint Car Racing Fan Appreciation Day

Super-fans of one of racing’s most exciting sports can meet their idols at the Fan Appreciation Day.

As the annual Krikke Boys Shootout rolls into town on March 2, Bunbury Forum is gearing up to give fans a rare opportunity to meet their favourite drivers. Before all the action of the evening’s main event, fans can visit local shopping centre Bunbury Forum from 9AM to catch a glimpse of some of sprint car racing’s biggest names.

Bunbury Forum Marketing Manager, Ashley Hastie, said “The Krikke Boys Shootout is such a significant event for Bunbury and we are so pleased to be involved for the third year running,” “We can’t wait to see all of the familiar faces (and hopefully a few new ones) as we celebrate our Fan Appreciation Day with the community.”

On the day, four-time national champion, Kerry Madsen will be on site to meet with the sport’s devotees. Other notable names include James McFadden and Brooke Tatnell. Customers with a need for speed can enjoy Mini Go Karts and meeting the stars of the event, while the entire family can enjoy face painting, glitter tattoos, free ice-creams, a jumping castle and entertainment by the Make Smoking History Bunbury Speedway Team.

Attendees can also get up close and personal with 8 sprint car vehicles, including the Krikke Motorsport car. The Krikke Boys Shootout is one of Australia’s biggest sprint car racing events, regularly attracting over 8,000 attendees each year. It is a memorial race held in the honour of the three Krikke brothers, two of whom died in a car accident in 1997.

Each vehicle weighs about 650kgs and can accelerate from 0 to 100kms/hr in just four seconds.
