In a bid to raise awareness of the devastating effects of the single-use plastic waste epidemic in Australia, SodaStream has launched its world-first Ocean of the Future Virtual Reality experience.
The bespoke Virtual Reality experience immerses participants in an underwater environment, where they are tasked with trying to clean up the ocean amidst an overwhelming onslaught of plastic waste.
Also available to view at the site is a turtle sculpture, named Eddy (because “Eddy” is also the name of an undercurrent that moves plastic around the ocean) created from over 242kg of reclaimed and repurposed single-use plastics collected from around turtle settlements in Northern Queensland.
The sculpture was created in collaboration by Melbourne-based Lump Sculpture Studio and Australian reclaimed plastics Artist, David Day.
