Wasp Movie is the third solo show from comedian Nikki Viveca. With an approach to standup that is both theatrical and heartfelt, Nikki turns a true story of domestic disaster into a comedy that explores the challenges of co-existing with nature and each other. When Nikki moved into her cute new house, she was looking forward to turning it into the home of her dreams. She wasn’t counting on the wasps who also wanted to make their dream home there.

Nikki: “The wasp situation took over my life for a while. They were building a big hive in my ceiling—I called it Waspopolis—and there were wasps going in and out the whole time. Living with them, as I did for months, was both fascinating and nerve-wracking. Wasps are remarkable creatures, I knew if I could just avoid getting seriously stung I would have to make a show about them.”

Wasp Movie follows Nikki's previous solo shows The Lazy Show and Asexual Healing, and she is one third of queer comedy trio Three Dollar Bill. A multi-talented performer who works in standup, improv, theatre and burlesque, Nikki is also an emerging voice in the slam poetry scene, having won this year’s Midsumma Poetry Slam and the inaugural Trans Poetry Slam. She appeared recently in Melbourne Theatre Company’s Cybec Electric readings and is one of the team behind Completely Improvised Potter, which she will also be appearing with as part of Melbourne Fringe 2019.

Reviewer quotes for Nikki’s work:

"Radiant charisma...Excels at enticing the audience into a comical and informative journey that really
captivates." - The Plus Ones

"She is brilliantly funny... but the story-telling is powerful too and the moments of emotion and
vulnerability were touching without being laboured." - Great Scott!

"Standup has never been more fun." - Keith Gow
