Dirty-soul act Blues Arcadia are hitting the Eastern highways and byways once again with the latest cut from their critically acclaimed Carnival Of Fools album (4.5 stars - The Australian; 5 stars - Courier Mail).
The “Two Wrongs Tour” features a video release and shows kicking off this March in Melbourne, Sydney and the NSW Coast culminating in home-state dates in Queensland in April.
The video for Two Wrongs (Don’t Make It Right) was shot on a 38C day in the band’s backyard at Mini Mecca in Brisbane, a retro-custom car garage specialising in the restoration of vintage Mini Coopers. Sweating it out between car hoists amidst the clutter of engine parts was a unique performance experience captured by local filmmaker Geoff McLeod, who has documented the band since their formation four years ago. Since then, Blues Arcadia have been three-time Australian Blues Music Award winners and Australian Roots Music Award nominees, and played festivals around the country including Woodford Folk Festival, Thredbo Blues, Blues on Broadbeach and Mornington Peninsula Blues Festival.
With Blues Blast Magazine (US) enthusing that “with them, the future of blues is secure”, Blues Arcadia draw from influences as rich and diverse as The Meters, Robben Ford, Ronnie Earl, Parliament-Funkadelic and Big Mama Thornton, creating a sound that is part jazz, blues and funk fortified with a dash of dark and dirty soul. Their latest single Two Wrongs (Don’t Make It Right) is no exception: a funky-ass face-slapper of rolling snare hits and Rhodes keyboard stabs dancing around the final moments of a romantic relationship in terminal decline.
