The aim of this class is to teach you the basics of drawing, which is the foundation of realism. One cannot draw and/or paint real objects in a convincing way if you do not know how to draw.

During this day we will cover a number of basic concepts including:

1. The use of line to construct shapes

2. How to simplify complex objects into a combination of shapes that are easy to draw

3. The use of tone to illustrate the effect of light and shadow to construct form.

4. Basic perspective (linear and atmospheric)

5. Scale and proportions

We will be doing a number of drawing exercises using graphite pencils to tackle each of the above subjects, using 2D reference material and real objects.
