Logan Artist Collective Host Live Music and Arts Showcase Event for Local Audiences.

Logan audiences are in for a treat with a dynamic mix of the Logan region’s talented musical acts, live and exhibited art and spoken word performances.

The multidisciplinary event, Art Plus Beer will take place at 6pm, at Monkey Tree Brewing Co in Underwood on July 24th. The event was created by a collective of Logan creatives headed up by Ali Strachan and Jimmy Watts.

“Our flagship events will feature a combination of cultural stories, different mediums and focus on providing a unique, and visceral arts experience,” said event coordinator, Ali Strachan. “We want audiences to walk out feeling understood, connected, invigorated and alive.”

Since COVID, many live music venues are still operating at severely reduced capacity, with devastating impacts for the industry. “Getting out to attend live gigs like this is crucial to support the music industry,” said co-coordinator, Jimmy Watts. “Combining an eclectic range of genres with live art and exhibitions should make it even more enticing for audiences to get out and see some of the incredible talents all based here in Logan.”

The data shows that audiences are just as eager for live music as they were pre-covid. The collective plan to take advantage of this and tour these events across the region, working with local businesses to activate spaces with something unique and fun.

The evening will include sets from emerging country music sensation, Briana Dinsdale, zesty exotic pop band, Mayan Fox, country-pop singer-songwriter and host of Songwriter Trysts podcast, Rae Leigh, and Logan’s own hip-hop crew, LC Official.

Audiences will expect live art from street artist Phil B, spoken word performances by Naavikaran, and exhibited work from First Nations artist, Allan Kina, wildlife artist Ronelle Reid, fluid impressionist Chloe Wigg and pastel and charcoal artist, Stacey Bennett.

And for its first time out of Brisbane, Dr Nicola Hooper, Dr Zeynep Akcay and Orcan Nisli present JAMES THE RAT KING, an immersive multimedia experience narrating the story of the Bubonic Plague.
