Musically free and anarchic our next Picnic guest conforms to nobody’s dogma. Over the past few years, her hypnotic take on dance music has made waves across the world and we want a piece of the action. Please welcome...

Vanessa Worm

Sitting somewhere between spaced-out experimental dance music and punk, she is easily one of the most exciting artists to come out of New Zealand in recent times. Her debut release ‘Vanessa 77’ on Optimo Music last year got the tick of approval from Resident Advisor, DJ Mag and The Vinyl Factory and here is the reason why - her music fits in with no genre or scene, it is its own genre and it’s own scene. As a live musician and performer, Vanessa strives to explore feeling through movement, observation and connection with each other.

Like her music, her DJ sets are unpredictable, always playing loose and wild numbers across the electronic music spectrum. We don’t know what she is gonna play at Tokyo Sing Song but we are here for it.

Joining her is one of Sydney’s best selectors, and most dedicated diggers. She has quickly become one of Australia’s most successful exports, with regular shows on Red Light Radio, NTS, and Worldwide FM. We have seen Lauren Hansom take over Tokyo Sing Song before, and we are itching to hear her selections once again.

Lex Deluxe is on closing duties, and is on a mission to take you deep into the tunnel of the rave. Favouring the fast and brazen end of techno, Lex will have your energy levels kicking on till the early morning!

Opening up the night is Sydney’s favourite cool zia. Bocconcini holds down the fort on Sunday mornings at FBi Radio 94.5, delivering sounds for a full cafe breakfast on her show Brunch with Bocconcini. When she’s behind the decks you can expect anything from trip-hop, to Italian film scores, to city pop, to flirty 2000s R&B.
