Immortal Beloved: Heiligenstadt to fair Verona

Come and hear the brilliant Erica Kennedy (violin) with pianist Rohan Murray, performing 3 sketches from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet as well as Beethoven and Brahms' final sonatas in the beautiful acoustics of Christ Church, South Yarra.

Composed 10 years after his famous Heiligenstadt testament, Beethoven’s final violin sonata in G-major is a testament to the great composer’s inconquerable spirit and his ability to craft works of the most exquisite beauty. Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet is a lavish musical tour de force constructed around one of the greatest literary stories of love and tragedy. Brahms’ final violin sonata – as with Beethoven’s final sonata - is filled with richness and arguably imbued with Brahms’ own untold longing. This program will showcase three of the greatest composers at the height of their powers in the lovely surrounds of the Christchurch Anglican Church, South Yarra, 677 Punt Road, South Yarra. Violinist, Erica Kennedy has performed and recorded in Australia and overseas and was the first violin in the Flinders Quartet for 12 years. She is joined by pianist Rohan Murray who has performed in Australia and overseas with the Team of Pianists for over 20 years.
