This Irish variety concert - music from the extensive musical repertoire of James Joyce, signals the final trumpet-blast of a suite of events held in Melbourne to celebrate the centenary of publication of Ulysses, Joyce's Annus Mirabilis (a film, a play, a seminar and several other events). Under the musical direction of Mary O'Driscoll and the theatre direction and MC'ing of Tref Gare, this concert celebrates Joyce's wide-ranging tastes - from bawdy street ballads to the sacred, from music hall and vaudeville to Mozart. Featuring Merryn Hughes and Torsten Strokirch, the harp of Carly Wilding, the sacrilegious ballad of Chris Broadstock and the comic Trio, The Tatty Tenors of Brisbane, this line-up of songs and talent will lift the heart and tickle funny-bones.
