Perth’s premier IRON MAIDEN tribute act POWERSLAVE celebrate the 40TH ANNIVERSARY of the classic metal album "THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST" at AMPLIFIER BAR in PERTH on SATURDAY 17 SEPTEMBER, with special guests GONJAZZZ & BLACK ROSE performing the best of Metallica and Thin Lizzy.

“The Number of the Beast” was released on March 29, 1982 and is the third studio album by British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden.

With Bruce Dickinson having taken over from Paul Di’Anno, and worldwide stardom within their grasp, Iron Maiden were a band in transition as they set out to record their third album, “The Number Of The Beast”.

Some things never change, though, and when the album was released in March 1982, it was reassuring to note two constants in the sleeve design: the band’s zombie mascot Eddie (who had previously appeared on the sleeves of 1980s’ Iron Maiden and 1981’s Killers), and Eddie’s creator, the British artist Derek Riggs.

It has been routinely ranked among the greatest heavy metal albums of all time and topped the charts in the U.K., being one of the first albums to move into more commercial territory in a genre that got close to zero airplay at the time. A showcase for producer Martin Birch, the album possesses a crisp yet strong song that jived perfectly with the tastes of hard rock fans in 1982.

The greater emphasis on dramatic narrative (the title track, “Hallowed Be Thy Name” and the top ten single, “Run To The Hills”) provide Dickinson a platform to showcase some subtle phrasing that marks him out as a cut above the rest of the balls-to-the-wall competition. Maiden newbies are advised to start their journey to metal hell and back right here.

Following a shredding set at the recent sold out ROCK PARTY PERTH tribute event, POWERSLAVE can’t wait to celebreate 40 years of “The Number Of The Beast" in 2022, when they perform the classic album from start to finish, plus a selection of classic cuts from London’s metal legends.
