Footscray Community Arts is the place for creative kids with these school holidays. In the second week of the holiday’s children are invited to take art to the extreme!
Learn, create, and dance with The Extreme Arts program, which runs from 18—20 April with three different workshops led by professional artists and assistant teachers.
Weaving with Nature:
Join Textile Artist, Tab Sejoe, as we bring nature into our own worlds, with foraging, finding, winding, and weaving!
A lifelong storyteller through visual arts, Tab’s creative practice almost always involves bringing elements of nature into our everyday worlds. You will be guided in creating keepsake woven artworks from scratch, using found objects and elements from nature like twigs, grasses, and leaves.
Banging to the Beat:
Join Fred, a Ghanaian master dancer, drummer, and musician as he teaches you how to drum and dance! This fun workshop will uplift and empower kids to find their rhythm and develop their percussive skills.
Felt Banners:
Come and create your own felt banner! Join artist Kate Robinson as she guides young people through creating their own bold personalised banner.
Kate loves working with communities to reignite their creative side and make art accessible. Using felt, glitter and a whole lot of sparkles, during this session you will create your own colourful design to celebrate whatever you are a fan of!
With classes grouped by age, every child will be well supported to explore and express their creative skills.
It’s time to take art to the extreme these school holidays!
