The Boite: Big Fiddle Little Fiddle with Claire Patti (Harp)

The Boite Presents Big Fiddle Little Fiddle with Claire Patti live at Box Hill Community Arts Centre, 470 Station St, Box Hill.

It has always been the role of folk music to reflect the cultural currents and climates of its era. The voices of each new generation challenge us to listen, to retune our social practices, and to reassess the values and customs that bind or break us. In this project we explore the voices true to our own communities and experiences, highlight them, and offer our own words to the conversation. With a strong emphasis on compositions by women, our curated contemporary program articulates facets of the turbulent times in which we find ourselves.

Through the mediums of cello, fiddle, harp, and song we will present original and local works expressing conflict and change, hope and despair, love and protest.

Big Fiddle Little Fiddle
Led by cellist Louise Godwin and fiddler Jessica Foot, Big Fiddle Little Fiddle is both a performance duo and a project vehicle for creative experimentation and collaboration. With diverse backgrounds in folk, traditional, improvisatory, Baroque, classical and new music, the duo is known for its joyful performances, eclectic fiddling styles, classical sensibilities, driving rhythms, and inventive arrangements of original compositions.

Claire Patti
Acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and singer, Claire's artistry carries across multiple musical disciplines and styles, with her sublime voice finding affinity with traditional Celtic music and jazz. Her passion for singing and playing is closely followed by conducting choirs and ensembles, with a particular penchant for anything a
cappella.
