Bolero, Bossa Nova, Tango and South American Folk Music. Introducing a fresh musical partnership blending the romantic melodies of bolero, bossa nova, and tango with a modern jazzy funky sound. Punto Caramelo (which means 'Just Right' in Spanish) is an innovative duo is a fusion of talents, uniting Ezequiel from Ecuador and Elena from Argentina. Get ready to be transported to a new experience where the past meets the present, where breathing and vibration are the key to give a new life to these beloved genres.

Punto Caramelo is:

EZEQUIEL BALSECA
He is Director and Composer of the Ezequiel Balseca Trio, who were nominated for Jazzahead 2020. He was also part of the Super Sax Project in Barcelona 7 years ago with whom he recorded his first EP Meteor. Ezequiel has performed with the Owen Langer Group in Hannover and was arranger and pianist of the Sandra Artigas Quartet.

In 2019 he won First Prize at the Steinway Piano Jazz Competition in Stuttgart and was awarded Third Prize at the Baku International Jazz Competition 2019 in Azerbaijan. He has been a member of the Baden-Württemberg Jazz Association for the last 4 years, and has performed with renowned composer and percussionist Christian Lillinger. As a jazz pianist he has performed regularly in Spain, Germany, Poland and Ecuador over the last several years.

In 2022 he decided to move to Australia after 10 years of living in Europe. Nowadays, he’s developing part of his new upcoming projects.

ELENA ZALEZ

Elena was born in Argentina and lived many years in Europe. She performed in different countries like Argentina, Sweden, Germany, Japan and Australia, sharing music with Andreas Tordai, Fabian Nesprias, the Berlin Tango Community Orchestra, Naoko Aoki, Jessie Lloyd, Michel Bestrin and the Melbourne Tango Orchestra.

Elena is a natural storyteller, for her music and dance are the perfect tools to connect with the audience, to create a bridge of human connection. She started her performer career as a tango dancer then after she became a tango singer in 2014. Since then she has released two studio albums. Elena is based in Naarm-Melbourne where she leads the band “Tango Mood” South American Afro Roots, she also works into different projects and collaborates with local artists.
