This Much Talent

Join us for an electrifying night of soul music featuring Port Wine, Austin, Jay Jarome, Velvet Bloom and Karai.

Port Wine is an all original four piece band hailing from the South of Tasmania. They present an eclectic sound of heavy soul and rock with glimmers of funk and alternative jazz. Port Wine has formed in in 2022, and in this time played many well received shows throughout Tassie including MONA, To The North Festival and Kindred Hall.

KARAI is a Singer-Songwriter Guitarist who is based in Nipaluna/Hobart Tasmania. Born in Melbourne, Victoria and surrounded by the influence of his musician Father and Grandparents’ taste in music spanning from Folk to Soul and everything in between, their eclectic taste in music drew KARAI to singing at an early age. Self-taught, his love for music expanded as he grew older and eventually, he decided to pursue music seriously. Beginning his professional career in 2007 at the age of 18, KARAI has carefully crafted his vocal range, agility and high energy stage theatrics throughout his career. KARAI’s original songs have strong social commentary whilst engaging the listener to develop their own connection.

Austin is the original Soul-Pop band project of Ruby Austin-Lund. Austin's lyrics come from the perspective of a 20-something navigating life and relationships; she draws from personal experience and writes about anything from loneliness & love to climate change & existentialism (don’t worry, it’s still groovy). The band consists of Aleks Folvig on electric guitar, Luke Sanderson on drums, Al Boon on bass and Ruby on keys and vocals. Austin's piano driven sound draws inspiration from the likes of Alicia Keys and Amy Winehouse. They’ve been carving their way into Tassie’s music scene and can't wait to share with you what they've been working on!

Naarm/Melbourne based song songstress Velvet Bloom is back, equipped with her silky vocals and candid creativity, with a new single ‘Miles Away’ dropping Wednesday 31 May. Out via C.W. Records, ‘Miles Away’ follows the release of their 2022 debut EP ‘Glimmer’ which saw them tour across Australia with sold-out shows in Sydney, WA and Victoria, and is the first taste from an acoustic EP out Friday 30 June, accompanied by a scenic seaside visual from House of Vera.

“Equal parts enthralling and enchanting, Velvet Bloom is undeniably on the cusp of big things in the near future.” - Rolling Stone Magazine

Hobart based singer songwriter Jay Jarome comes with a unique blend of Soul, R&B, Funk and Rock. Born and raised on Bribie Island in Southeast Queensland, this young artist made the move to Hobart on a scholarship to study songwriting at the UTAS Conservatorium. Jay is currently working around Tasmania with his band, solo and in various musical lineups as either a vocalist, instrumentalist, songwriter or all of the above.
