Sydney may not be the world’s most bike friendly city - some say it's almost the opposite - but all that is about to change when the Sydney Rides Festival rolls through this month.

Roads will be bumper to bumper on two wheels instead of four as the festival celebrates cycling with its vibrant program of events. The Festival launches with a spectacular string of stalls and entertainment set along the beautiful Bourke Street cycleway.

From October 13 -28, there will be street fairs and community fetes, film screenings, art and photography exhibitions, complimentary bike tuning, DIY pannier making, glow in the dark night-riding fashion, Ride to Work Day, valet bike parking and stacks of cycling adventures based around the CBD.

Sydney's largest social bike ride - the 50km Spring Cycle Classic - will be held alongside a shorter 15km City Sights Ride, perfect for whole the family.

Sydney rides will come to a close with a final peddle at the Surry Hills Festival where there will be more entertainment with kids activities and expert route planning advice.

By riding around Sydney on bicycle this October you can travel 3 times faster than you can walk, for the same amount of energy. Fact.
