John C. Reilly, AKA Dr. Steve "For Your Health" Brule, is coming to Australia for two shows only with his bluegrass band, John C. Reilly & Friends - presumably for your health.
The Oscar, Golden Globe and Tony nominee is set to play in Sydney and Melbourne, only months after his comedy bros, Tim and Eric were zipping around Oz doing a great job!
John C. Reilly's musical career is an unsurprising but great thing because:
1. All great comedians do songs on the side - Steve Martin plays banjo, Andy Samburg's The Lonely Planet can't do comedy without a melody a la "Weird Al" Yankovich hits, Flight of the Conchords goes without saying and I always like to pretend Jerry Seinfeld played that dorky slap bass.
2. He has a history of playing staunch choonsters in his films - as Amos Hart singing the heartbreaking "Mr. Cellophane" in Chicago, invoking the glory of the 80s power ballad as Reed Rothchild in Boogie Nights, and he performed in the online political musical Proposition 8 - The Musical.
In case you thought he couldn't be more of a complete dude with his solid acting chops, awesome collaborations and being part of Tim and Eric's inner circle, just be aware that Jack White is his producer, so all bets are off now.
