Carriageworks releases 2013 program

Carriageworks have announced their 2013 season; a multi-arts program that engages with contemporary ideas and reflects heavily on the vast social and cultural diversity of this country.

The program relfects on the regions around us; from the tiny island of Tarawa in Micronesia, Samoan choreographer Lemi Ponifasio presents a haunting reflection on our relationship with the world in the acclaimed Birds With Skymirrors, to an island off the coast of Timor-Leste where Doku Rai presents a story of a man who can be killed, but will not die, in You, dead man, I don’t believe you.

Also featured on the program are the artists and performances involved in the Sydney Festival 2013 including ‘Sacre – The Rite of Spring’, an intimate fusion of theatre and dance based on Igor Stravinsky’s Le Sacre du Printemps, the sharp and sensual ‘Othello C’est Qui’ starring Ivory Coast-born performer Franck Edmond Yao and German actress Cornelia Dörr and ‘Waste Not’, a transformative installation by Chinese artist Song Dong; conceived after the death of his father, the work consists of the entire contents of his mother’s house reflecting her process of mourning.

Carriageworks’ usual ambition, risk taking and unrelenting support of artists shines through in their contemporary and diverse program for 2013.

Tickets are on sale now.
