The Darkness and Joan Jett announce joint Australian tour

The Darkness and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are pairing up to do a joint headline tour of Australia in April, stopping off at AdelaideBrisbaneMelbourne and Sydney. joan-jett

After well deserved fame in the early noughties for hitting the high notes, maximum riffage and filling their bodysuits with great high kicks and chest hair, The Darkness took a hiatus in 2006 'cause everyone thought they were uncool (idiots), the original line-up returning with their third album, Hot Cakes, in 2012.

The Darkness were here last year, selling out shows within hours, and shimmying their lyrca butts onstage as they did massive justice to the (not so) humble rock opera, long hair and moustaches, presumably making Freddie Mercury proud (rest his soul).

The queen of punk, Joan Jett, hasn't exactly been slouching around the house either. Since co-founding the runaways at 15, she has been a stalwart pioneer of the lady punk rocks (and basically a beacon of feminism in rock 'n' roll), now playing with her band the Blackhearts, also being head honcho of independent label, Blackheart Records.

After a fifteen year chill out, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts played in Australia during 2010 at the Falls Festival in Tasmania. The lady is as relevant and awesome now as she was back in the 70s, a time recently devoted to film with Kristen Stewart as Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherrie Currie (who wrote the book the film was based on), which Jett was an executive producer for.

It's ok guys; 2013 is gonna be all right 'cause these legends will be in it.

Tickets go on sale at 9am Monday 11 February.
