Screaming Females Set For Debut Australian Tour

After a decade of cementing a reputation as one of America’s most critically acclaimed underground punk bands, Screaming Females are thrilled to announce their debut Australian tour.

With an almost frightening level of frenetic energy, the band will definitely make all fans in Brisbane, Melbourne, Ballarat North, Canberra, Wollongong and Sydney scream and shout for more in their first ever trip below the equator.

Twenty-fifteen was huge for Screaming Females. Apart from celebrating their ten-year anniversary as a band, they also worked for the first time with an outside producer, hit quadruple digits on the live show front and released their sixth full-length album, Rose Mountain via Don Giovanni Records, which will have an exclusive Australian Tour edition with B-sides and demos.

Equal parts Dinosaur Jr and Sleater-Kinney, the trio of Marissa Paternoster (guitar/vocals), Michael Abbate (bass) and Jarrett Dougherty (drums), ten years on, remain hard working and viciously independent as ever. Paternoster’s withering and howling vocals have been likened to those of Corin, while her shredding guitar prowess has seen her on SPIN Magazine’s “Top 100 Guitarists Of All Time” list.

Whether live or on record, Screaming Females' blistering-yet-mannered rock onslaught has been critically acclaimed for years. Their 5th full length, Ugly, recorded by lauded engineer, Steve Albini, captures the intensity of their live performance while delivering gorgeous sonic clarity. On their latest release, Rose Mountain, the trio worked with producer and engineer, Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Sword, Minus The Bear, Soundgarden), to explore the intricacies of guitar tones and drum sounds. Rose Mountain sees the band produce a record that is their most concise, crisp and melodic yet.

So if you haven’t seen Screaming Females live, check these shows out and see for yourself the band’s crazy onstage antics, mind bendingly crafty, shredding solos and the canyon-spanning vocals of Paternoster.
