Urzila Carlson Returns To Australia With New Show, Unacceptable

Prepare for a deluge of belly-laughs as Award-winning South African/NZ comedian, Urzila Carlson, returns in 2017 with the Australian debut of her new show, Unacceptable.

A regular panelist on Network Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention?, Carlson will play a series of giant festivals from March to May, kicking off in Brisbane, then to Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

More than happy to call a spade a spade, Carlson’s new show explores when it became unacceptable to like meat and impossible to process gluten. And why isn’t it okay to call people out when they’re being *ssholes? You don’t need to like the latest hipster indie banjo band just because majority is into it. It’s actually okay to think they’re sh*t - you’re not alone.

Born in South Africa and now famous in New Zealand as a cast member of TV3’s hit comedy panel show 7Days, Urzila first conquered the stage in 2008. Since then she’s amassed an impressive array of awards including Best Female Comedian at the 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 NZ Comedy Guild Awards, as well as the coveted TV3 People’s Choice Award two years in a row at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival.

Urzila constantly sells out her live shows in NZ, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, and has appeared on Network Ten’s annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival Oxfam Gala and The Great Debate when in Australia. Her first book, a memoir entitled Rolling with the Punchlines, has just been released through Allen & Unwin.

Don’t miss one of the quickest wits in the biz.

“Effortlessly likeable... stream of belly-laughs” - The Age

"Standout performance... sidesplitting" - Rip It Up

"Carlson is a gifted and accomplished comedian - an absolute must-see.” - Appetite for the Arts, NZ

Grab your tickets and get ready to laugh, giggle, chuckle and again laugh with Urzila Carlson!
