International Cake Show Goes To Brisbane This May

Brisbane Showgrounds' Exhibition Building is set to transform into a giant bakeshop as Australia's huge family-friendly International Cake Show arrives this May. Cake, cookie, foodies and sweet lovers will flock together to celebrate, learn and taste all things sweet and decadent! The international cake-off challenge will also be heating up the main stage, as it features the world's best cake artists creating magic. Thousands of artists, cake decorators, cake bosses, professional pastry chefs, bakers, chocolatiers, home hobbyist decorators and food personalities from across the globe will battle it out in 22 categories.

Some of the cake artists appearing in 2018 are:

Zoe Byres - Cake Art By Zoe Byes (Zoe's is the team leader for the mammoth Alice In Wonderland Display that will be at the show).

Trina Thompson - Sweet Ruby Bakes - Trina appeared in the last two international cake-off challenges. Trina is Brisbane-based and will compete this year.

Caitlin Mitchell - A Little Cake Place (multi award winning wedding cake designer) - Caitlin is a rising star and is on ACADA's organising committee.

Serdar Yener - Internationally-renowned Cake Artist, Teacher & Pastry Chef. An incredible talent. Owns international online cooking school Yeners Way. He is an accredited professional ACADA Member.

Greg Cleary - Internationally-known sugar flower artist, wedding cake designer & teacher. Greg is also a pastry chef and sits on ACADA's board.

Zoe Clark - Zoe Clark Cakes - International Award-winning wedding cake designer, Zoe is teaching at the show and is one of the nine Australian Cake Designers invited to exhibit in the Couture Wedding Cake Marquis.

Shayne Greenman - Internationally-acclaimed Pastry Chef and Sugar Artist.

Sydney:

Margie Carter - Margie Carter's Cake World - Australian matriarch of cake decorating. She started Planet Cake. This phenomenal talent will be leading this year's cake-off challenge for team Australia at the show this year and also teaching.

Sharon Wee - Sharon Wee Creations - Again a phenomenal talent, Sharon will be demonstrating at the show this year.

Mio Shih - Deliciously Yummy Sydney - Mio teaches incredible work, a true rising star. She'll be teaching workshops and demonstrating at the show this year.

Monica Cavallaro - Moreish Cakes (previously finalist in Great Australian Bake-off). She will be teaching at the show and will do talent interviews at the show and livestream. She's got a high profile and lovely person.

Faye Cahill - International Award-winning couture wedding cake designer, very well-known also on ACADA's board.

Paul Delaney - Delaney's Cakes - Paul has got 30 years experience as a pastry chef and cake artist. He is on Team Australia in the cake-off challenge this year.

Overseas Superstars:

Paul Bradford (Scotland) - Paul Bradford Sugarcraft - International Team Leader in the Cake Off Challenge. Paul won the 2017 "World's most inspiring cake artist. He is really entertaining, a great asset. His partner David manages the business and promotion side for him. They have all the equipment necessary for video linkups etc.

Dorothy Klerck (South Africa) - Eat Cake Party - She was the international team leader in the last cake off challenge. She is in the International Team again this year and will also teach.

Karen Portaleo - Atlanta USA. Karen has the highest profile in the world within the industry. She will compare and judge the cake off challenge (team of three compares) she will do three free demonstrations and also host the sunday Lounge interviews with the high profile cake artists at the show. Karen has won the international award as the most inspiring international cake artist several times.

Marta Hidalgo - Spain - Marta is an incredible cake artist. She won the International Collab Australia section of the competition last year with her bust of King George and will be teaching this year.

Marta Torres - An incredible cookie decorator. She travels the world teaching and has won many awards. She will be teaching and demming at the show.

Timbo Sullivan - Timbo is very hip and out there. Again a great cake artist. He travels the world teaching. He'll teach at the show and also be part of Team International in the cake off challenge.

Visit the cookie create, make and take zones, where you can get your hands dirty. There are even kids mini classes! The experts will share their skills and show you how to make your own mind-blowing cookies. Also, don't forget to visit the haute couture wedding zone—its' exquisite! Now if you want to excite your tastebuds, the sweet zone is perfect for you. Kids will be captivated by the huge Alice in Wonderland exhibit made entirely from cake and sugar. They can even sit and become part of the scene! Relax and learn at the three live, laugh and learn demonstrations stages, where local and international celebrity chefs, chocolatiers and cake artists will present hourly demonstrations. Visit the ultimate Australian cake decorating competition, but don't expect ordinary.

This is the area where all boundaries are stretched and cake and cookies are transformed into a magical edible artform. Marvel on huge sculptured cars, people, buildings, sugarcraft, flowers and everything imaginable, all made from cake! ​Entry is open to everyone!
