Husky - Late Night Store Tour
Just before the year ends, Melbourne band Husky will be returning to home soil—after a year of absence—playing shows off the back of their latest single 'Late Night Store'.
The single is culled from their forthcoming third release next year via Liberation Music. Relocating to Berlin in late 2015, Husky Gawenda and Gideon Preiss wrote ‘Late Night Store’ upon their recent return to Australia. They will be performing in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne. They will also be gracing Lighthouse Folk Festival.
Adding new colours to their musical palette, Husky's natural ability shines on ‘Late Night Store’. A striking blend of guitars and keys are propelled forward by a steady groove, whilst Husky’s vocal floats along effortlessly; his poetic lyrics chronicling a twisted and fantastical story that also feels strangely relatable.
“The truth is 'Late Night Store' came about through lots of drinking and confusion and heart ache and longing and ecstasy – all in the one night.” – Husky Gawenda
The song is a significant deviation of sound for Husky, which one might trace back to the nocturnal, somewhat surreal nature of life in Berlin. The pair spent the better part of a year basking in the beauty of the great city, taking in the charm of its abandoned buildings, exploring its eclectic characters, and enveloping themselves in its vibrant creative scene: where night would quickly become day and then flit back again; where possibilities were infinite. Whilst based in Berlin, Husky played shows across the country and beyond, into Europe and the US, also performing at some of the region’s premier festivals.
Husky’s debut LP Forever So was released internationally via Liberation Music and Sub Pop to worldwide acclaim. The band’s second release, Rucker’s Hill spawned the singles ‘I’m Not Coming Back’ and ‘Saint Joan’. Husky’s unique, well-loved sound has helped them accumulate over 11 million Spotify streams to date and earn lead singer Husky Gawenda the major prize in 2014’s Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition.
‘Late Night Store’ is out November 4 via Liberation and Embassy Of Music (Europe).
So grab your tickets and be mesmerised once more by the sweet and gentle sound of Husky.
