Queens Of The Stone Age – Villains World Tour
Modern age rock royalties Queens Of The Stone Age are heading back to our shores this August and September. Not even a year after headlining last year’s Splendour In The Grass, they are again set for their glorious return as part of their ‘Villains World Tour’. They will be performing in Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Hobart, Melbourne and Adelaide and Perth.
The nine-date Aussie jaunt will follow QOTSA’s Auckland and Christchurch shows and will see them playing songs from their latest album ‘Villains’. Released in August last year under Matador, ‘Villains’ is the band’s seventh studio album. It topped the ARIA charts and featured some new addition to QOTSA’s thick catalogue of hits like ‘Head Like a Haunted House’, ‘The Evil Has Landed’ and ‘The Way You Used To Do’ to name a few.
Aussie blues legend C.W. Stoneking will be opening each show, warming the audiences with his hilarious music. Stoneking realised his passion for music at a tender age of 11. Throughout his over three-decade career, he has released several albums with 2014’s ‘Gon’ Boogaloo’ being the latest. Sunshine Coast-based punk rockers The Cats are also joining the ride as supports. Sparing Brisbane, the band who went viral last year for their video ‘Smoko’, will appear at all the other shows.
“Queens Of The Stone Age, you beautiful bunch of freaks. Rock 'n' roll just doesn't get any sexier than the sounds this band lovingly wrench from their instruments and these skillful players perform with a synergy that proves they're a band of brothers who genuinely rate each other.” - The Music
Queens Of The Stone Age really need no further introduction. They’ve been blessing the rock scene with their riff-oriented, hard rock sound since 1996. So far, they have released eight albums, toured the world, and garnered awards and nominations from various award-giving bodies. The band is currently made up of founder Josh Homme and members Troy Van Leeuwen (lap steel, keyboard, percussion, backing vocals), Jon Theodore (percussion, drums), Michael Shuman (keyboard, bass guitar, backing vocals) and Dean Fertita (percussion, keyboards, backing vocals, guitar).
With a known history of selling out arenas, it’s never a guarantee that tickets to the Queens Of The Stone Age’s upcoming tour will last long, so grab yours fast!
