Sisely Estate

At Sisely Estate it's all about passion; passion and devotion to make wine the way it was meant to be made and enjoyed. It began when John developed an appreciation of fine wine whilst in the retail sector of bygone fine wine merchants including Crittendens and John Moran. They said "it must have been in his blood" being the nephew of Alan Bailey whose father and grandfather produced their first vintage in 1870 - Baileys of Glenrowan.

John's passion drew him to an extensive visit of the wine regions of France and fueled the desire to get "hands on" back in Australia. After much searching we found our piece of paradise... a picture perfect location with north facing slopes and grey volcanic soil rich in nutrients and free drainage... the beginning of Sisely Estate and our vision to produce quality handcrafted wine from our estate grown grapes. With help from friends and family in 1999 we planted our first vines by hand, concentrating on two varieties Merlot and Pinot Noir.

The handcrafted tradition continues throughout the seasons with hand pruning, hand picking and selecting before destemming and crushing into open fermentors, where the grapes are hand plunged for up to two weeks before gentle basket pressing into French oak barrels. A labour of love, filled with excitement.
