The Idolize Spiegeltent is an intimate European venue that travels the globe, becoming a home to a variety of music, comedy and cabaret acts. Spiegeltents are hand-hewn pavilions used as travelling dance halls, bars and entertainment salons since they were created in the early 20th century. Built of wood, mirrors, canvas, leaded glass and detailed in velvet and brocade, each has its own personality and style. Only a handful of these legendary ‘tents of mirrors' are left in the world today.
The Idolize Spiegeltent is located at the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens in the Darwin Festival’s George’s Green Precinct, for the duration of the festival (August 9-26, 2012). Entry is via Gardens Road.
