Map showing The Long Paddock

Cattle Drive

In 2015, The Long Paddock will be offering a truly unique experience, inspired by Banjo Patterson’s Clancy of the Overflow

In my wild erratic fancy visions come to me of Clancy
Gone a-droving “down the Cooper” where the western drovers go;
As the stock are slowly stringing, Clancy rides behind them singing,
For the drover’s life has pleasures that the townsfolk never know.

And the bush hath friends to meet him, and their kindly voices greet him
In the murmur of the breezes and the river on its bars,
And he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended,
And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars.

The Cattle Drive is restricted to just 20 riders. Participants have the choice of two weekends, 1- 3 May or 8 – 10 May. Participants need to be 18 years or older.

We will move stock through some of the most unique landscapes on earth as you meet the locals and hear their tales.

The best part is you only need to bring yourself, a change of clothes and a sense of adventure. This experience caters for everyone, even those who have never ridden before.

And while we know that the life of the drover is a tough one, we also know you like your creature comforts so we have everything covered:

A great horse plus instructor
A top of the range floored tent, stretcher bed, mattress, linen, doona, pillow and towel
Hot showers
Breakfast, lunch and dinner and of course, smoko – all sourced locally from the Riverina
Beer, wine and soft drink
Great company and an amazing experience
All we want you to do is have a good time – we will do everything else for you from setting up your tent to saddling your horse.

There is nowhere else in the world where you can experience the vast flatness and beauty of our region – the flatest place in the southern hemisphere. It provides majestic skies and easy riding.

Just 3 hours drive from Melbourne, we will make sure you have a weekend to remember and brag about for years to come.

Location

The weekend starts and finishes at Wanganella, 40 km north of Deniliquin in southern NSW.

Transfers can be arranged from Griffith (Regional Express Airlines) or Albury (Regional Express Airlines, Qantas and Virgin Australia) Airports.
