Warrawee Gardens
We brought our 2 acre property in Beaconsfield, Victoria, in 2002.
The bush garden was established by the previous owners who built the two storey, split level (four levels), into the hill, basically on bedrock. It was heavily bushed and terraced, with a 9 metre drop from the house.
We had no garden experience initially.
Over the coming years we put in two large pipes in the gully, brought in 10,000 of fill, truck loads of boulders with most larger than 1 metre squared. My husband built all the retaining walls himself. Jo, our excavator became our best friend, cutting and filling so that we had no wasted space. I then got the bug, tirelessly over five or so years learning and searching for specific specimen trees.
In just the last seven years the transformation is remarkable with native and ornamental trees and shrubs interlaced.
We now have a piece of paradise amongst a surrounding bush setting.
