Lake Goldsmith Steam Preservation Association is on November 3rd, 4th and 5th 2012, celebrating its 100th Steam Rally.

This is clearly an enormous milestone, celebrating a period that has seen the rally expand from small steam-ups on local farms to evolve today into a permanent site consisting of 62 sheds plus a considerable number of outdoor exhibits including the 1903 Bucyrus Rail Mounted Steam Shovel – under restoration and operational for the first time at this rally and the 90 Ton Ruston Steam Shovel. All up the site is the largest permanent display of its type in Australasia and one of the largest in the world; all housing significant elements of Australia’s mechanical and machinery history.

In addition to the wealth of permanent items on display, there will be a very large contingent of exhibitors attending from around the country. With in excess of a dozen motoring clubs attending there will also be large numbers of veteran, vintage and classic cars, trucks, motorbikes and vintage caravans on display. Grand parades are held daily around a newly extended arena and for the first time there will also be a working earthmoving equipment display.

With so much to see, the 100th steam rally makes for a wonderful day or even weekend visit.
