Applespiel Make A Band And Take On The Recording Industry is the premiere of a brand new work, developed at Performance Space in 2011, where this young performance collective transform into an earnest and dedicated rock band, documenting the process of making, promoting and performing an album — complete with the highs and lows of number one hits and battling egos.

Applespiel Make A Band… continues Applespiel’s exploration of intersections of personal experience in popular culture – drawing upon long-held fantasies cultivated by the mythologies of popular music. The result is part documentary, part live ‘rockumentary’, and part rock concert.

Artists: Simon Binns, Nathan Harrison, Nikki Kennedy, Emma McManus, Joseph Parro, Troy Reid, Rachel Roberts and Mark Rogers.

Applespiel Make A Band And Take On The Recording Industry is part of Show On, a short season of contemporary performance from around Australia focusing on audience participation and the intersection of art, life and popular culture. Presented in partnership with Mobile States, 25 July-4 August.
