The 4th Annual Fremantle Arts Centre New Years Day Concert 2011.

Now in it's fourth year the New Years Day event is proving very popular with people who don't enjoy waiting 4 hours for a cab, paying triple for everything or sidestepping angry drunks in the New Years Eve frenzy.

These are the people that prefer laying back under the canopy of sycamore leaves on the cool grass soaking up the good vibes and super sweet atmosphere that can only be captured in Freo and at the Fremantle Arts Centre New Years Day happening.

Many people say 2012 will end with a big bang so we are starting it with a day built to lay back under the trees or kick it on the dance-floor with the finest global sounds, to relax and recover from New Years Eve and generally have an awesome time with some of the best people and best music around.
To make this possible once again we throw our arms around the good people of WA with a warm, fuzzy line up of roots, reggae, and worldly rhythms and grooves.

Roots, reggae, soul and world music in the historic courtyards of the Fremantle Arts Centre on New Years Day featuring:

- Sunshine Brothers
- Depedro (Spain)
- Shangara Jive
- Todd Pickett
- Lorraine Clifford (RTRFM Sunday Morning Coming Down)

International food, bar, soft grass, warm sun and sweet music.

Sunshine Brothers:
Fresh from the launch of their third and finest album to date 'Red Alert' (and the last ABC National album of the week for 2012) the Sunshine Brothers return to WA after taking their unique spin on reggae for three signature performances to Woodford Folk Festival in Queensland.
"They always make you feel good. Aww yeahhh."

Depedro (Spain):
Seen only once before in WA at Womubu World music festival and performing as lead guitarist with Calexico – Depedro is touring his new album of incredibly charming and soulful music.
This is music from the heart that is both proudly Spanish and utterly cool and contemporary – always perfectly delivered with feeling, gusto and skill.
Simply put; Depedro is awesome. Direct from Madrid via Woodford Festival to you!

Shangara Jive:
Western Australia’s finest exponents of Afro-roots music. It is funky, percussive and traditional all at the same time and the current reinvigorated line up is gaining them attention across the country,
Dig it.

Todd Pickett:
A WA institution in his own right – Todd lives and breathes music and has played a part in live and/or recorded projects with Abbe May, Blackmilk, Davey Craddock, Split Seconds, Kill Devil Hills, Kim Salmon, Don Walker and many more.
His solo work is cerebral, expansive and deep and having his indie folk/pop swirling around the trees of the courtyard is the perfect start to the day to evaporate any remaining headaches and guide you into the good times of 2012. He’s not just a Singer/Songwriter. He’s a Humdinger/Wrongrighter

Lorraine Clifford:
All we had to do to glue all this wonderful live talent together was source one of the greatest dj selectors in the business to play what is right, when it is right to keep the vibe alive right through the day and we are lucky in 2012 to have LORRAINE CLIFFORD from RTRFM’s Sunday Morning Coming Down anchoring the show. If she can handle Sunday Morning Coming Down then New Years Day coming down will be quite special indeed.

We know that stuff is getting really expensive because of those damn miners so have set the 2012 event at the super nice price of $20+bf/$25 door.
