Ultra-cool Thai auteur Pen-ek Ratanaruang (Last Life in the Universe), with his regular cinematographer Chankit Chamnivikaipong, brings his trademark bravura to this reinvention of the hitman genre. Tul (Nopachai Jayanama) is a cop-turned-professional killer. He has just received the mug shots of his next victim and readies himself for the assassination by - perversely - shaving his head to impersonate a Buddhist monk. However, his killing routine is about to change. The job goes awry and he's shot in the head. Three months later, Tul awakens to a world turned upside down. Is it a brain injury, karmic retribution or a metaphor of the immoral twisted world we live in? Ratanaruang, who describes his film as 'Buddhist noir', elegantly articulates Tul's view of a world without justice, of violence and disorder.

"A great piece of stylish, badass neo-noir cinema." - Indiewire
