'If it's a funeral... Let's have the best funeral ever.' Shut Up and Play the Hits captures the week before, the day after and the very occasion of LCD Soundsystem's Madison Square Garden Farewell Concert - marking the end of James Murphy's ten-year journey with his beloved band. Performing a near four-hour show to an 18,000 strong crowd, the film's 'fly on the wall' approach portrays a charismatic front man at his artistic peak alongside his everyday self in its aftermath.

Full of poignant moments and questions of why, Shut Up and Play the Hits makes the audience think rather than telling them how Murphy feels. Shooting without a live feed or monitors, Directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace's in-the-moment approach gives a thrilling vibrancy to the film, from playing favourites for the last time ('All My Friends', 'Losing My Edge') to the intimate reactions of audience members. An official selection at the Sundance Film Festival, Shut Up and Play the Hits will make its Australian Premiere at Vivid LIVE 2012.
