Thousands of Queensland students will take part in an amazing race towards the future in Maryborough on 15-16 September.

Teams of teenagers will peddle for 24 hours in the state’s most gruelling endurance race – the Queensland 24 hour Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) Championship.

The HPV race is the feature event of the RACQ Technology Challenge, where students design, build and race a variety of machines that harness alternative energy.

There are seven events to test the innovation of both primary and high school students, with challenges involving pushcarts, solar boats and cars, tiny CO2 powered dragsters and lego robots.

A Technology Expo will showcase innovations of the past and also the future of technology including the latest in electric cars and unmanned airborne vehicles
