Newcastle will be holding its first annual LGBTQI film festival shOUT!, in the soon to be revamped Tower Cinemas, to coincide with IDAHO 2012 (International Day Against Homophobia)

17 May 2012 marks the International Day Against Homophobia, more affectionately known as IDAHO. This day is a global awareness day aimed at reducing (and eventually wiping out) Homphobia, transgender-phobia and intersex-phobia worldwide.

The festival will be screening some of the finest upcoming feature and short titles in LGBTQI film including the Glenn Close oscar-nominated film, Albert Nobbs, and the regional NSW debut of ciritically acclaimed film Weekend.

More titles will for the 3-day festival lineup will be announced shortly as well as a list of guest speakers and events that will coincide with the film festival.

GENoz will announce further details including lineup and where to purchase tickets as information becomes available. The Opening film for the festival is Rodrigo García's Albert Nobbs, and the closing film is Andrew Haigh's Weekend.

The event has already received the support of Newcastle City Council, ACON, PFLAG and of course Event Cinemas and we can't wait to dig into the popcorn, kick back with a glass of wine or beer and immerse ourselves in our community's first festival of this kind.
