APRA|AMCOS’s Song Summit is a three-day creative, business-development and networking expo designed to provide local songwriters with educational support as well as networking and business opportunities to help further their musical careers. The three-day program includes live performances by international and local talent as well as workshops, conferences, showcases and networking opportunities.

In a Song Summit exclusive premiere, Neil Finn will join delegates to present The Sun Came Out, an intimate documentary insight into what he has described as, “the most extraordinary musical experience” of his life.

In 2009 Finn gathered a world-class group of musicians to record The Sun Came Out, a charity album for Oxfam. The album was written, recorded and performed in three weeks. The stellar line-up includes The Smiths’ Johnny Marr, Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien and Phil Selway, Glenn Richards, Tim Finn and Liam Finn; as well as Don McGlashan, Bic Runga, KT Tunstall and Wilco members Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche and Pat Sansone.

The Sun Came Out brings us a privileged look into the project, the writing and recording of an entire album within an intensely short time frame. It provides a glimpse into how the songs and show came together, how the writers approached it, their impressions of New Zealand and the camaraderie of like-minded people thrown together under a common cause.
