Robert Cockburn’s political thriller The Hotel Hibiscus comes to the Zenith Theatre stage from Friday 19 October to Saturday 27 October.

Set on fictional Hibiscus Island in Papua New Guinea, The Hotel Hibiscus is a brutally revealing account of Australia’s involvement in the six year "dirty" war on Bougainville.

Opening on the eve of a ceasefire in the early months of 1990, the frustrated Papua New Guinea Defence Forces are about to withdraw, defeated by the ill-armed but rapidly growing Bougainville Revolutionary Army.

But with more work to be done and no room in the morgue, it's Spin Doctor versus Witch Doctor as the play explores the banality of violence in a world where the political has just got dangerously personal.

Inspired by his experience covering the war on Bougainville for The Times and the BBC, reporter and writer Robert Cockburn has crafted an extraordinary tale that is not to be missed.
