Politically incorrect and absolutely hilarious, this Serbian comedy has a homosexual veterinarian and a thuggish, homophobic war veteran uniting to protect Belgrade's gay-pride parade. When his beloved pitbull is shot, ex-soldier and security consultant Limun takes the dog to gay vet Radmilo, who saves the animal. Limun agrees under duress to provide protection for the parade against the violent homophobes who have vowed to prevent it. When his usually loyal men refuse to participate, Limun is forced to travel throughout the Balkans and round up former enemy combatants - a Bosnian Muslim, a Kosovar-Albanian and a Croatian - to assist him in his unusual mission. Director Srdjan Dragojević (Pretty Village, Pretty Flame, SFF 1997) says he made the film with the specific purpose of showing the majority how the minority is treated. With more than 500,000 admissions in the Balkans region, he has achieved his goal with much aplomb.
