A distinct American voice is imbued in this program, which features works by Charles Ives, Igor Stravinsky, and Antonín Dvořák. The influence of jazz is strong, with works by Leonard Bernstein and Duke Ellington in particular pointing to the union of jazz and classical music.

This performance will feature both the Monash Academy Orchestra and the Monash University Big Band, in an exciting collaboration exploring integration of classical and contemporary performance.
