Murdoch Theatre presents William Shakespeare’s Antony V Cleopatra – a contemporary interpretation of the text that allows audiences to see another side to the famous couple: the fierce Emperor Antony and the legendary Egyptian Queen Cleopatra.

Antony V Cleopatra, under the direction of Dr. David Moody, (assisted by Travis Hasson) presents the famed play into two parts.
The first play is Antony, which centres on the doomed love of the couple, and the inevitable demise of Emperor Mark Antony.
Cleopatra is the second play, which focuses on the Egyptian Queen as she faces the political hurdles of war in her own country.

With a selection of topical contemporary writing strewn between the two plays, Antony V Cleopatra explores the political and social climate of the 21st century including issues such as civil war, racism and the ‘war on terrorism’. Never before has Shakespeare become as relevant as it is now.
