Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of people campaigning to protect human rights. We have a vision of a world in which every person enjoys all of the rights stated in the universal declaration of human rights and all the other international human rights standards. In order to further these goals Amnesty International is well known for holding high profile events, using the 'Arts' as a medium for campaigning and raising awareness on specific issues.
This year we are using the 'Arts' to help raise awareness of the persistent inequality in Australia. The event will focus on three campaigns that we feel highlight 3 key areas of persistent inequality in Australia; equal marriage rights, Indigenous youth incarceration and the treatment of refugees.
We have an amazing line up this year with The Morning Night, The Aunts, Jake and the Cowboys and Tara Tilba heading up the music contingent. We have also been lucky enough to have several local artists donate their artwork for our silent auction including David Spencer, Rebecca Cool and Richard Wainwright. So come and bid for some beautiful pieces.
Comedian Sami Shah will MC the event.
