The Australasian Quilt Convention is back; an opportunity to immerse yourself into the world of quilting with stunning displays, opportunities to learn from the best in the business and specialist quilting retailers.

For the very first time, this year’s AQC will be holding a class especially catered to first-time quilters. If you or someone you know is keen to try quilting this is the perfect opportunity. Chris Timmins, quilter and teacher for more than 33 years, will take you through the steps to creating your first quilt in a fun, relaxed environment.

Visitors will also get the opportunity to experience ‘Colour Play’, an inspiring and eclectic quilting collection displayed for the first time in Australia. The latest series by a group of 12 artists, brought together via the internet and their mutual love to quilting. With contributors from the United States, UK, Belgium and home-grown talent from Australia, the exhibit is set to be a melting-pot of tastes, techniques and inspirations.

The AQC expo also offers visitors the opportunity to spend the day perusing the beautiful stands and where more than 90 retailers of quilting products will display their newest wares, including fabrics, materials, books, machinery and just about everything to do with quilting.

For the more experienced quilters and convention delegates, AQC offers four days of catered lunches, social functions and classes with the very best quilters from both Australia and the rest of the world. This year’s highlights include the esteemed David Taylor (USA), Christine Porter (UK) and our very own Brenda Gael Smith and Gloria Loughman.
